Study Visa to Spain: General requirements to help international students with their journey to arrive to Spain

Got your acceptance letter? Now it is time to apply for your study visa to prepare to arrive in Spain! In this guide, we put together general guidelines to help you prepare to apply for your study visa in Spain. We must ensure you know this is an online guideline to help you prepare, but you should only reply to the information posted by the Spanish Embassy in the country where you are applying for a study visa. We say this because there could be variations from one country to the other. Also, the Embassy could as for more documents from time to time. So again, your only reliable source of visa-related information is the Spanish embassy website.

To make it simple for you, we have listed the visa requirements as bulletins that you can use as a check list.

1. One passport-size photograph (white background; avoid white or bright clothes).
2. Bank statement for the last three months from the applicant's bank account or their financial sponsor.
3. Certificate of studies issued by the educational institution in Spain, translated into Spanish and legalized by the Embassy. Please provide both originals and copies. 
   - The certificate should come from an official educational center in Spain authorized to offer a full-time program that leads to a degree, title, or certificate.
   - The given name and travel document name must match.
   - The duration of studies must be clearly stated, including the start and end dates (dd/mm/year).
   - The language of instruction must be specified.
   - The address of the institution where the studies will take place must be provided.
   - Any documents submitted need to be attested, legalized, apostilled, and then sworn translated.


4. Non-criminal record (for students above 18 years old) from the Ministry of Justice, legalized by the appropriate authorities and the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Originals and copies are required. If the applicant has lived in other countries in the last five years, criminal records from those countries must also be legally obtained with the Hague Apostille.

5. Certificate from the Government (for applicants above 18 years old), legalized by the appropriate authorities and the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Originals and copies need to be provided.

In case you are accepted by a private university in Spain, they usually would have a dedicated "visa compliance" department that reaches out to accepted students directly to help them with their applications and will check all their documents before submitting them to the embassy. They would also prepare students for their visa interview. They would walk them through common interview questions and help them prepare answers.
